How to Reduce Moving Time

Pack before the truck arrives

This is the largest controllable factor. Closed boxes move faster than sorting cupboards mid-job.

Finish kitchens and wardrobes the day before. Leave only a small “last out” set for morning essentials.

Shorten the carry

Every extra metre from truck to door multiplies across dozens of trips. Prioritise parking close to the entrance — even if that means booking a permit or loading bay.

Apartments: win the lift window

A booked lift with pads fitted beats sharing a busy passenger lift. Confirm the window with building management and tell Moviq so the partner can plan around it.

Decide placement in advance

At delivery, know which room each major item goes to. Hesitation at the door is billable time. A simple floor-plan sketch or labelled boxes (“Master — left wall”) helps.

Declare special items early

Last-minute pianos, gym machines or stone tops force improvisation. Declaring them early lets the job be scoped with the right crew or equipment — or declined before move day if not feasible.

Be ready at the window

If the crew arrives to a locked door or unfinished packing, the clock still reflects time on the job. Align keys, codes and decision-makers with the booked arrival window.
